Rumour: Supergirl to feature another superhero? | Den of Geek - Den Of Geek
On the rare occasions that we share rumour stories on this site, we always preface them with warnings. Be warned, then - the following may or may not be 100% accurate. It's certainly one that has a ring of potential truth to it, though.
TV Line are reporting that Lucy Lane - sister to Lois Lane - will pop up in episode 3 of Supergirl on CBS. From there, we're told she'll become a recurring character.
In keeping with comics lore, Lucy's initial role is said to be that of Jimmy Olsen's ex-girlfriend. There's a chance that this could lead into a love triangle situation involving Melissa Benoist's Kara, Mehcad Brook's Jimmy and whoever plays Lucy Lane, then. That all sounds like fairly standard practise for a modern TV show , especially one with Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg's involvement.
As TV Line notes, though, there's also potential for Lucy Lane to become a superhero. In the comics, she's one of several people to take up the Superwoman mantle. She's not a Kryptonian, but she had a costume that could simulate similar powers to Superman.
If we had to guess, we'd say that Lucy Lane will begin as a 'normal' character, but could become a hero later if all goes to plan. See: Barry Allen's introduction in Arrow (which lead to his own show), Ray Palmer's inclusion in Arrow which landed him a big role in Legends Of Tomorrow, and several other characters from Berlanti and Kreisberg's CW-verse who have gone on to gain heroic responsibilities a while after their first appearance.
As far as we know for sure, none of this has been confirmed by an official CBS statement, at this stage. If anything comes up, we'll let you know.
