The funniest women characters on TV are...wait, men! - India Today
It would not be wrong to say that a large part of the success of Comedy Nights With Kapil can be attributed to its female characters-Gutthi, Daadi and Palak. What's common among them? No points for guessing; all three roles are played by men in drag. The concept is at an all-time high on the small screen in India right now, with comedy actors presenting gigs on various comedy shows dressed as women. In fact, television's biggest comic successes in recent times have comes from these men, be it Sunil Grover as Gutthi, Ali Asgar as Dadi or Kiku Sharda as Palak/Pankhuri aunty. Now, you could add another one to the list as Gaurav Gera's hilarious Shopkeeper-Chutki act is all set to go from the internet to the small screen. If the online success is anything to go by, Gera will soon be a household name.
Here are six television actors who rose to fame by portraying a woman character on TV:

Gaurav Gera gained popularity on TV after his show Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal on Colors. He charmed the audience with his mannerisms and effeminate body language as a woman, and thanks to his recent Shopkeeper-Chutki videos, he is ruling the internet. In this utterly crazy series, Gaurav plays a crude shopkeeper and a customer, Chutki, who tries to seduce the shopkeeper with her coy voice. Due to its immense popularity, Gera's series will now be shown on Big Magic and its radio channel.
