Millions to watch Manresa Castle TV ghost show - Port Townsend Leader

New York Times cartoonist speaks at Sunrise CoffeeHouse Sept. 4

On Friday, Sept. 4, Sunrise CoffeeHouse hosts New York Times cartoonist and illustrator Grant Snider, who talks about his work and creative process in a PowerPoint presentation at 6:30 p.m. Snider is here to celebrate the opening of his poster art show “Incidental Art,” which is to hang at Sunrise for several weeks. All of his poster art is to be for sale.

With materials from his brickyard, Eisenbeis erected many of downtown Port Townsend's wharfs and buildings during the late 1880s and early 1890s, including the Mount Baker Block Building. In 1890, he helped finance the $96,000 construction of a 128-room grand hotel on the bluff, though it was never used as such. The building served as a schoolhouse in the 1890s and a sanitarium in the early 1900s before its 1923 destruction from arson. In 1892, Eisenbeis built his family residence to resemble castles in his native Prussia. The original home had three stories, an attic and a basement. It was at that time when an economic boom began to wane, giving way to a national recession that caused Eisenbeis to lose much of his fortune. At the time, Eisenbeis had four children from an earlier marriage. He married a... Source: www.ptleader.com
